How the Best Colleges for Criminal Justice Are Scored
The best colleges for criminal justice come from every school with a bachelor’s program in the federal data once it takes part in the federal student aid programs and confers
enough criminal justice degrees to be scored. The ranking weighs cost (22%), graduate earnings (22%), completion (17%), online experience (17%), track record (11%) and program reputation (11%). Each factor is scored on a 0 to 10 bar among the programs ranked together at the same award level, and the score is the weighted total of the six bars, out of 100, to one decimal. It is an absolute score, never rescaled so the top program reads 100. A factor with no figure for a program scores the median of the programs ranked with it, at full weight, and is left off the program's card, so a program can't rise because a number is unpublished. Cost is stricter: a program with no price scores at the 25th percentile of the cost scores, as if it costs more than most. The full method sets out who is ranked and why.
Bachelor’s Programs Ranked Within Each State
A state page is the national ranking at each level, kept to the state's programs, in the national order and with the national scores, numbered from 1 within the state. The price scored is the one a resident pays. Choose a state to see its programs and the rules for becoming an officer there, or open
the state rankings page for every state’s count of ranked programs.
